The Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has transited and now enlisted in the pantheon of ancestors of Ijebuland.
9news Nigeria quoted a reliable source close to the Awujale’s Palace in Ijebu-Ode and officials within the Ogun State Government to have confirmed the monarch’s transition on Sunday.
Oba Adetona, who ascended the throne in 1960, was one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers and a highly respected voice among Yoruba monarchs and across the country.
9news Nigeria gathered that the cause of his death has not been ascertained as official statements from the palace and state government had yet to be released.
