There was tension today at Ebonyi State University following students protest against GST Maintenance Fee and poor arrangement of the examinations.
Our correspondent gathered that students who couldn’t pay 2000 naira which the school management tagged “GST Maintenance Fee” were not allowed to write their exams which resulted to massive protest as some of the 100 level students reportedly stoned some of the lecturers.
A 100 level student, Igboke Monday who spoke with our correspondent expressed disappointment over how the school management scheduled the examinations.
According to him,
“I’m totally disappointed over the poor arrangement of the examination today. I have been here since morning but up till now, I can’t write the examination despite paying for the GST maintenance fee.”
” As you can see, three students fainted today and a student slapped a lecturer because she wasn’t allowed to write the examination despite paying for the GST maintenance fee.”
“I don’t know why students shouldn’t be allowed to write their exam since they have paid their school fees which is the most important thing”, he said.
Our correspondent gathered that those who didn’t write the exam were told to come on Saturday.
Also, as at the time of writing this report, policemen were seen patrolling around the school to maintain peace and tranquility.
