The death has been announced of former Minister of Internal Affairs and a Chieftain of the APC, Brig. Gen. John Shagaya.
The former senior military officer was said to be on his way to Jos from Langtang in Plateau State when the accident occurred, his eldest son Colonel Nansak Shagaya, confirmed.
Until his death, General Shagari was a founding member of the ruling National Party, APC and also the pioneer Chairman of the Party in Plateau State.
He was appointed Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies NIPSS, kuru by President Muhammadu Buhari in December last year.
He has held various positions in Govt and the Military including General Officer Commanding First Mechanised Division Kaduna, ECOMOG commander in Liberia and longest serving Minister of Internal Affairs under General Ibrahim Babangida administration.
