Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the appointment of Dauda Iliya as official spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media.
The appointment comes nine months after the demise of Mallam Isa Gusau, his former spokesman, in February 2024.
The Governor’s approval was released in a statement on Friday by his SSA on New Media, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi.
Dauda Iliya is currently the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Borno State Chapter.
He hails from Kwaya-Kusar local government area of the state.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics from the University of Maiduguri and later obtained his master’s in Mass Communications from the same University in 2024.
He has attended numerous professional courses and trainings.
He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters.
Until his appointment, Dauda Iliya worked as a reporter for Federal Radio Corporations, covering Borno State.
The statement added that Zulum conveys his congratulations to the appointee and urges him to utilise his wealth of experience in service to his state.
