Breaking news reaching 9News Nigeria confirms that the National Assembly has unsealed the office of embattled Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The development was first reported on Channel News before being confirmed by 9News Nigeria sources inside the National Assembly. The Senator’s office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, was reopened on Tuesday morning by the Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji, alongside combined security personnel.
“To unseal Senator Natasha Akpoti’s office, I, Alabi Adedeji, Deputy Director, Sergeant-at-Arms, hereby unseal the office,” he declared while unlocking the door that had remained shut for six months.
This action potentially clears the path for the Kogi Central lawmaker to return to the Red Chamber when plenary resumes on October 7, 2025.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended for six months in March 2025 after protesting the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20. The Senate barred her from all activities of the 10th Senate, citing misconduct.
Although her suspension formally lapsed in September 2025, she was unable to resume duties due to pending legal challenges and stiff resistance from Senate leadership. Just last week, the Senator wrote to the upper chamber, notifying them of her readiness to return—a request the Senate rejected at the time.
With Tuesday’s unsealing, political observers say the stage is now set for Senator Natasha’s highly anticipated return to parliamentary duties.
