CEO of Space-X and Tesla, world richest man Elun Musk who owns $3Billion shares of Twitter, has been on the news recently after expressing strong interest in acquiring the giant Social Media website.
Elun who stands 2nd on the list of Twitter top shareholders with his over $2B stake representing a 9.2% stake in the company, has enjoyed close working relationship with Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey over the years.
The savvy Billionaire who currently tops the chart of the world’s richest men, is one of the social media website’s most popular users, with 80 Million followers.
Surprisingly Musk’s decision to acquire Twitter remains his long-standing interest in defending freedom of speech on the platform, and very little to do with the profit part of the business.
Elun had lined up $46.5 billion to fund his offer to buy Twitter and make the company private. Twitter board had on Sunday April 24th held an important meeting to decide the fate of the top Social Media website.
A few hours ago, the news broke that Musk’s bid has been accepted and the green light given for his takeover of the company. Official announcement are expected to be made in the coming hours or days, as Elun looks to add to his list of Billion dollars companies.
