Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is currently meeting with the former Lagos State Governor and President-elect of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the farmer’s Asokoro home in Abuja.
Kalu leading contender for the Senate Presidency, according to sources arrived Tinubu’s residence at exactly 5:31pm. Shortly after disembarking from his Black Toyota Land cruiser SUV, the former Governor decked in white attire was ushered in straight to meet with Tinubu.
The APC stalwart, who was officially out of Nigeria since March 22, returned about one month before his inauguration on May 29, 2023. They duo are said to be engaged in a closed door meeting afterwards.
The source explained that Kalu, before the closed door meeting; expressed gratitude to God for Tinubu’s successful vacation and safe return.
The reason for their meeting was not yet made known to journalists but it might not be unconnected with the race for the Senate Presidency amidst strong indications that ruling party may have zoned the Presidency to the South-East.
The visit comes amidst talks that Kalu is being strongly positioned for the 10th Senate presidency.
Both men were former governors of their respective states from 1999 to 2007 with a relationship spanning over 30 years.
While Tinubu was a former Senator, Orji Uzor Kalu is the current Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District in the 9th Senate.
