The 27th Defected Lawmakers in Rivers State House of Assembly, who are loyal to the Ex-Governor and Current Federal Capital Territory (FCT) led by Speaker, Rt Hon Martins Amaewhule has declared a total shutdown of expenditure in the state.
This follows the expiration of the 7-day ultimatum, they gave to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to represent the 2024 Budget before the House.
The Martin Amaewhule-led assembly resolved that Governor Fubara is no longer allowed to approve or authorize expenditure from the consolidated revenue fund of the state, and neither are Ministries permitted to spend Public funds until the 2024 budget is presented.
Recall that in December 2023, the Governor signed the budget of 800 billion naira into law after Presenting it before already suspended lawmakers led by Hon. Edison Ehie.
