The Supreme Court has declared that there was no basis to have placed on suspension the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Imo State, Barr C.O.C Akaolisa ,by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee.
It has accordingly cleared Barr Akaolisa of any professional misconduct and quashed the five years suspension slammed on him by the committee.
In a unanimous decision by a panel of five judges, the Supreme Court affirmed that they could not find any justification to have warranted the suspension of Akaolisa by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee.
In the judgment read by Hon Justice John Inyang Okoro, on behalf of his brother justices, the Supreme Court allowed the Appeal by Akaolisa to succeed.
Barr C.O.C Akaolisa had in Appeal No SC/CV/348/2021 challenged the decision of the Disciplinary Committee to suspend him for five years.
