The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington, on Wednesday paid an unscheduled visit to the new headquarters of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Jabi, Federal Capital Territory Abuja.

The US envoy also stressed his country’s support for the fight against corruption and good governance in Nigeria.
9News Nigeria reports that the ambassador emphasized that his country was committed to providing the needed support for the EFCC, towards eradicating all manners of corruption in the country.
The envoy gave reasons for his visit, stressing that Nigeria is strategic to the United States of America, USA. He also said it was important for every country to build the trust and confidence of its people on institutions like EFCC.
Symington admonished the agency not to despair but rather continue its good work to make the EFCC a world class and respected institution like the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI.
In his remarks, Magu thanked the USA government for all the supports accorded the Commission especially in the area of trainings of the Commission’s staff. He recalled that the U.S. was among the first western nations to embrace the EFCC when many did not give it any chance to succeed.
