The gassroot leaders said they believe their position will bring about the efficient administration of the local government areas The 13 local government chairmen and ward councilors in Ebonyi state have rejected the position of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) on local government finances.
The rejection by the chairmen was contained in a 10-point resolution signed by the legislative leaders of the local government and has been presented to the state House of Assembly for confirmation, Leadership reports.
The chairmen who appeared at the House during its plenary session said their position is to engender efficient administration the grassroot areas.
The local leaders said that the central payment of salaries and pensions must be maintained and that jointed state and local government project as stipulated in the amendment law No 007 of 2015 should be also be upheld.
Other things in the 10-poinnt resolution include the funding of the Ebonyi State University and the 64 development centres of the state.
