All Progressives Congress APC Benue State Chapter under the leadership of Comrade Austin Agada, has been alerted to a sinister plot by a yet-to-be-identified group to burn down the Benue State High Court premises, specifically Court 6, and other courts where the Benue State Local Government Election Tribunal cases are being heard. This alarming development poses a grave threat to the rule of law, judicial independence, and the safety of citizens seeking justice in the state.
The planned attack on these critical judicial facilities is not only an assault on the judiciary but also an attempt to undermine the democratic process and the integrity of the ongoing Local Government Election Tribunal cases. Such actions, if carried out, would disrupt the administration of justice, destroy vital legal documents, and create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation among citizens, litigants, and judicial officers.
We strongly condemn this heinous plot and call on all security agencies in Benue State, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other relevant authorities, to take immediate and decisive action against these enemies of the Benue people.
The judiciary remains the last hope of the common man, and any attack on its institutions is an attack on the very fabric of our democracy. We urge all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, and the general public, to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around court premises to the appropriate authorities.
We also call on the Benue State Government to provide all necessary support to the security agencies to ensure the safety of judicial officers, court staff, litigants, and the general public.
