The president and commander in chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, former General Muhammadu Buhari, has vehemently denounced notions of third term agenda.
General Buhari has said that any attempt to run for a third term in office will be a grievous mistake which he won’t ever make.
He made the statement during his speech at the National Executive Council meeting of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja.
By this public statement, Buhari has debunked conceptions by some political blocs that he wants to vie for third term in the presidential office.
In his word, the president said: “I’m not going to make the mistake of attempting a third term. “
The well aged president also cited the fact that age is no more in his favour, but said that in spite of the age impediment, he wants to stick to the constitutional stipulation of Nigeria.
In his words, he said “Besides the age, the constitution makes provision for only two terms.”
According to the Nigerian Constitution, he is only allowed to serve two terms in office as the president of Nigeria.
