Burna Boy Throws Shade with Cryptic Post, Sparks Rumors of Targeting Davido

Nigerian Grammy-winning Afrobeat star Burna Boy has sparked controversy with a cryptic Instagram post many believe was directed at fellow music icon Davido.

In the now-viral post, Burna Boy appeared to call out unnamed individuals for allegedly living false lives, referencing luxury properties and high-end items.

“If you ever lied about buying Sujimoto’s house in Banana Island when you only rented it, do better in 2025.

“If you ever lied about Elele’s house being yours, do better in 2025.

“If you have an aftermarket ‘rainbow Daytona,’ please stop telling people it’s real. Do better in 2025,” he wrote.

Ending with a pointed remark, he added:

“It should be a criminal offence to tell as many lies as certain men. The list can go on and on and on.”

The post, which left social media in a frenzy, has been widely interpreted as a direct jab at Davido.

Burna Boy’s reference to Sujimoto’s Banana Island property and the luxury Rolex Daytona watch aligns with past claims associated with Davido’s lifestyle, adding fuel to the speculation.

However, this isn’t the first time Burna Boy and Davido have been at the center of public drama with their rivalry has played out both online and offline.

Burna Boy has often emphasized his global recognition, including his Grammy win, while Davido, celebrated for his hits and philanthropic efforts, has a loyal fanbase that remains unwavering in their support.

Social media platforms have been consumed by reactions, with fans divided between those applauding Burna Boy for “keeping it real” and others accusing him of fanning the flames of rivalry unnecessarily.

All eyes are now on Davido to see if he will respond or let the matter slide.
