Trade union activist and former Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) Staff, Mohammed Ahmadu Bello has slammed the Nigerian Inspector General of Police over a warning given to older police officers.
According to the information released to 9News Nigeria by Mohammed Ahmadu Bello, the IGP had given a warning to those in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) who refuse to quit after they have served for 35 years or have reached 60 years of age.
Mohammed Ahmadu Bello advised the IGP to channel his grievances to the right people.
“Just a few days ago. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) gave a warning to those in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) who refuse to quit after they have served for 35 years or have reached 60 years of age.”
“But here is the same IGP facilitating with the Tinubu National Security Advisor, Nuhu Ribadu, on his 63rd birthday. 🤔
I ask. If those in the civil service who attain 60 years of age are deemed weak to continue with their duty, what is the assurance that those in the political space who are in their 70s are not totally weak and need to be retired immediately?”
“If those in the civil service are considered weak at 60, then it’s pretty safe to say that those ruling us who are in their 70s are weaker and not qualified to rule. They need to resign now and give way to a more competent and qualified person.”
