CHIEF DAMIAN COLLABORATES WITH IMO GOVERNMENT ON AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT

The Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Distinguish Senator Hope Odidika Uzodimma has beckoned on well to do, captains of industry and Philanthropists in the state to come up with workable plans to invest in the State.

The Governor made this statement in a ceremony marking the distribution exercise at Umualemia, Council Headquarters of Ehime Mbano, through the interim management committee Chairman, Hon. Barr. Chidi Okechukwu.

Barrister Okechukwu while appreciating Chief Omereoha for his philanthropic gestures towards ensuring that youth and other citizens of the local government benefited from the agro farming programme, added that it’s not only the government that can take responsibility for engaging the youths so that the society can be free from most social vices we witnessed in the recent past,

Stressing that for Chief Omereoha to think collaborating with the government to ensure more youth and other citizens who have enrolled and are allowed to actively participate in the oil palm plantation exercise, as a way of helping overcome the scorches of poverty and helplessness, in the society is a welcome development.

Hon. Okechukwu further said that Gov. Hope Uzodimma’s desire to partner with Imo indigenes willing to join him in carrying out a revolution in the agricultural sector, had been identified as a key to development and strategy to take youths out of the joblessness ravaging the state, he commended Chief Omereoha for launching the provision of over ten thousand high yielding oil palm seedling to the youth and other citizens, majority of whom are interested farming as an occupation.

Barrister Okechukwu charged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity created to better their lives and make an impact on the agro-farming programme.

Earlier in his speech, the Donor, Chief Mel Demian Osuji, a Port Harcourt based business mogul, who was represented at the event by Mr Emeka Ohaegbu thanked the government for giving him the opportunity to contribute his quota towards advancing the good of humanity. He added that through this kind of agricultural programme thousand of people have been empowered and taken away from poverty, stressing that the importance of food sufficiency to any economy can not be overemphasized.

While thanking the governor for the opportunity, Chief Omereoha noted that he is delighted over the governor’s determination to make the people welfare his government number one agenda while equally praising him for people-oriented policies and programs.

Chief Omereoha appreciated the government for coming out with policies geared towards bettering the lives of Imo citizens, he assured the government of his continued support towards providing more opportunities for the youth and other citizens, a situation Chief Omereoha argued if sustained will ensure peace and security in our communities.

Dignitaries who graced the event include President Generals from various communities, most senior staff in the Council among other Leaders in the Council.
