A Coalition of Northern Nigeria and Civil Society Organizations under the auspices of the Conference of Northern States Civil Society Networks has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to reconsider his stand on the state pardon granted to former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Chibi Dariye and former Governor of Taraba State, Rev Jolly Nyame.

In a statement endorsed by the 19 CSO’s and jointly signed by Ambassadors Ibrahim Waiyya and Ibrahim Yusuf condemned in strong terms the pardon of the duo, Saying the action is a disservice to fight against corruption and would kill the morale of the anti-craft workers.

“We, members of this great conference, and as anti- corruption ambassadors hereby condemn this action in totaling and request His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, to as a matter of urgency reverse his decision on the state pardon granted to some corruption convicts, in the interest of Nigeria citizens” he said.

They said, if the president does not reverse the pardon, they will pass vote of no confidence on the government.

The group expressed disapointment with the decision of the President and the Council of State to pardon the beneficiaries of corruption, saying would dampen the spirit of anti- corruption crusade in Nigeria. The two former governors were jailed for stealing billions of naira of public funds and their sentences upheld by the Supreme Court.
