Confusion in Imo Newspaper Publishers Association (INPA); members get indefinite suspension

Imo Newspaper Publishers Association (INPA)

Confusion trails Imo Newspaper Publishers Association (INPA) Election as Shirley led faction issues Indefinite suspension on members.

BY PRINCELY ONYENWE, IMO

Following the emergence of the new executives of Imo state Newspaper publishers Association that produced Declan Anaele as Chairman, Shirley Muonye’s faction has issued a suspension notice to three publishers of INPA till further notice.

This is an act of selfishness and interest exhibited by Imo state publishers to cajole the practice of journalism in the state.

9News Nigeria in Owerri reports that there are two parallel factions of publishers led by Shirley Muonye and Declan Anaele born out of selfishness and personal interest.

However, Shirley Muonye’s led Imo State Independent Newspaper Publishers Association (INPA) wishes to inform the general public that the following members have been suspended indefinitely from the Association for gross unethical conducts;

1)Hon. Henry Ekpe of Trumpeta Newspaper

2)Gele Agbai of Newsbreak Newspaper

3)Chief George Nkworji of Moment Newspaper.

The decision was reached shortly after the maiden meeting of the newly inaugurated executive of INPA led by Ambassador Shirley Munonye, the Publisher of Frontline Express Newspaper, following a report that while the Publishers were on a 1-day training workshop for Imo Journalists with the theme, “Impact of fake news”, which was held at Rockview Hotel, Owerri, the trio of Hon. Henry Ekpe, Gele Agbai and Chief George Nkworji congregated Non-Publishers” at a beer parlour for an induction that could best be likened to a charade and utter rascality.

INPA being a responsible group that is made up of corporate organizations, won’t allow any act capable of dragging its name to the mud or making it a subject of caricature before right-thinking individuals.

The Union which is registered as incorporated trustees with CAC had before now, warned members to desist from any act capable of portraying INPA in a bad light.

It was on this premise that the above-mentioned persons were suspended indefinitely and shall henceforth cease to participate in activities of the association.

Meanwhile, the former Chairman is by this notice advised to hand over every property of the Union under his custody to the BOT which had earlier made its stand public and chided him for arbitrarily elongating his tenure through frivolous antics, for which the BOT dissolved all standing committees.

Consequently, any person or group dealing with any of the afore-mentioned persons on behalf of INPA does so to his own peril.

The public is hereby notified as directed by the group signed by Amb. Mrs Shirley Munonye, Hon.Emeka Ahaneku, INPA secretary.

There is no doubt that the recent developments in both NUJ and INPA Imo state Nigeria demand for EMERGENCY INTERVENTION from the national body to address this urgly development.
