Court Orders Wike’s Son Jordan to Produce American Passport in $2.1m Abuja Land Case

The Federal High Court in Abuja has reportedly ordered Jordan Wike, son of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to produce his American passport before the court in connection with an alleged $2.1 million Abuja land-related dispute.

The development has generated renewed public attention, coming amid previous controversies surrounding allegations concerning land allocations allegedly linked to companies associated with the FCT Minister’s children.

Reports published in 2025 alleged that Jordan Wike was connected to land allocations involving Jordan Farms and Estates Limited, with documents reviewed by Peoples Gazette reportedly linking the company to extensive land holdings in the Federal Capital Territory. The report alleged allocations totalling about 1,740 hectares and valued by sources cited by the publication at approximately $2.85 billion.

However, the allegations were strongly disputed by Wike and his representatives. The minister’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, denied that any of Wike’s children had been allocated land, describing the reports as politically motivated and challenging critics to produce verifiable ownership records from the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Wike himself had also maintained that his children, as Nigerian citizens, have the right to own property provided the appropriate legal procedures are followed. He challenged those making allegations to present documentary evidence supporting their claims.

The latest court development, involving the production of Jordan Wike’s American passport, is therefore expected to put further attention on the parties involved in the Abuja land dispute and the issues before the court.

The order has also triggered intense reactions among Nigerians, particularly on social media, with some expressing scepticism about whether the case will eventually lead to meaningful legal consequences.

Some commentators have questioned whether the judicial process will be allowed to proceed independently, given that Nyesom Wike, whose son is involved in the matter, is the serving FCT Minister and a prominent political figure.

However, such reactions remain public opinions and allegations rather than established findings of the court. There is also no basis to conclude at this stage that the case is “dead on arrival” or that the judiciary has predetermined its outcome.

The court proceedings will ultimately determine the legal issues raised in the case, while the parties involved will have the opportunity to present their evidence and arguments.

The controversy also comes against the backdrop of earlier competing accounts over alleged land dealings involving members of Wike’s family. While investigative reports have made allegations concerning land allocations, Wike and his aides have repeatedly rejected the claims.

The latest order for the production of the passport could therefore become an important procedural development as the court continues to examine the allegations surrounding the $2.1 million Abuja land dispute
