Abuja — The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to stop presenting himself as the All Progressives Congres (APC) for Imo West Senatoria election slated for January 16, 2027.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu issued the order after holding that Uzodimma did not win the May 18 primary election conducted by the APC and monitored by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Delivery the judgement, Justice Egwuatu ruled that the evidence presented before the court proved that the former former Governor Rochas Okorocha won the majority of the votes cast at the poll and should be declared winner of the party’s senatorial primary held on May 18, 2026.
Justice Egwuatu subsequently directed INEC to remove Uzodimma’s name from the list of candidates for the senatorial district and publish Okorocha as the winner of the primary.
The court also ordered the APC to submit Okorocha’s name to INEC as its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District in the 2027 elections.
The ruling is a major development in the battle for the APC ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
