Cross River State has retained its right to host the 19th edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF) in the second quarter of 2018.

This followed a meeting between members of the Main Organizing Committee and the Local Organizing Committee at the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development headquarters in Abuja.

9NEWS NIGERIA gathered that some issues that held back the 2014 edition of the games dubbed ‘Centenary games’ and later ‘Paradise City games’ were ironed out.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, also approved that Cross River Deputy Governor, Ivara Esu, serves as the Vice Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee and Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee.

The bi-annual tournament that celebrates sports and athletes from the 36 states of the federation last held in Lagos in the year 2012.
