Former Governor of Plateau State Senator David Jonah Jang on Monday January 12, 2026 said he did not call on the Governor of Plateau State Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang to resign following his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jang, a former Governor of Plateau State and one time Senator representing Plateau North in a statement signed by Comrade Clinton Garuba, his Media Consultant said the attention of Senator Dr. Jonah David Jang has been drawn to a misleading report in some print and online media outlets.
“The report attempts to portray him as calling on Governor Caleb Mutfwang to resign following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“For clarity, Senator Jang’s remarks were quoted out of context. At no time during the PDP stakeholders’ meeting did he call for Governor Mutfwang’s resignation. Rather, he criticized politicians for leaving their parties to join others”, Garuba added.
The former governor therefore calls on the people of Plateau State to disregard the report and continue supporting Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who continues to lead the state under the people’s mandate.
The rebuttal follows reports on Sunday claiming that Jang, while speaking at a PDP stakeholders’ meeting over the weekend, had asked Mutfwang to resign and contest fresh election for defecting from the party.
