Human rights activist and lawyer Dele Farotimi has declared his readiness to confront the legal challenges ahead as his trial continues.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Farotimi expressed his determination to fight what he described as a battle against “principalities and powers.”
“My battle axes are newly sharpened, my guns primed; I am ready to war,” Farotimi wrote, signaling his resolve.
He added: “I am strong enough to rumble unruffled against principalities and powers, but I am human enough to shed tears of joy in appreciation of the grace of God, expressed in the concerted efforts of fellow victims.”
Farotimi also suggested that the first phase of his legal ordeal had been resolved in his favor.
“My resolve was NEVER tested, but I was waiting for the next round of the fight to commence. I KNEW that the first round had been lost by those responsible for my imprisonment,” he stated.
9News Nigeria reports that Farotimi’s legal troubles began a few weeks ago when he was arrested for allegedly defaming Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD).
Following his arraignment, a Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti granted him bail set at ₦30 million.
The activist has since regained his freedom after meeting the bail conditions, and his public statements reflect a renewed vigor to challenge his accusers.
