Disclose Funding Source Of Abia’s Infrastructure Projects- Ex-Min. Rotimi Urges Gov. Otti

Former Governor of Rivers State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rotimi Amaechi, has called on Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, to disclose the source of funding behind the large-scale infrastructure projects currently transforming Abia.

Amaechi made this remarks during a recent inspection tour of ongoing projects in the state, where he was accompanied by fellow alumni of the University of Port Harcourt, who studied alongside Governor Otti between 1980 and 1989.

The former Minister of Transportation expressed admiration for the level of work done, particularly the reconstruction of the once-neglected Port Harcourt Road in Aba, which he recalled as being in a state of disrepair for years.

He commended the quality and speed of the transformation, noting that the visible progress within Otti’s less than two years in office was impressive.

However, Amaechi raised critical questions regarding the financial strategy behind the projects. He pointed out that governors of states with similar economic profiles often cite insufficient federal allocations as a barrier to development.

Given the scale of projects in Abia, he insisted that Governor Otti owes the public a transparent explanation of the funding model.

In summary, Rotimi Amaechi hinted that, accountability in governance is essential, especially when the level of development defies typical financial constraints.

The minister added that transformation is commendable, but the people deserve to know how these projects are being funded in God’s own State, Abia.
