A former Secretary to Imo State Government and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Chris Okewulonu, has dismissed allegations that he had concluded plans to join the All Progressives Congress in order to enhance his political fortunes in 2019.
Okewulonu, who was also a former Federal Commissioner in the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Abuja, described the allegation as mischievous, reckless and frivolous.
He posited that as a PDP member, he had no reason to leave the party for the APC or any other political party. He recalled that about a few weeks ago, he issued a statement, advising PDP members still in APC to return to the party. He stated that the APC would fizzle out in 2019.
He claimed that the “APC is enjoying temporary victory which will not last beyond 2019.”
“I have been a consistent PDP member and shall remain so. I am a lawyer by profession and not a bread and butter politician without morals and decency. Politics is not a profession but an association of like minds. It is only those who equate politics to a profession that cause unnecessary trouble within the party,” Okewulonu stated.
He further said the PDP remained the only true national party capable of catering for the diverse linguistic, tribal and religious diversities in Nigeria.
