Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Dr. Sam Amadi has urged Nigerians to look beyond political policies and manifestos when making electoral choices.
Amadi made the comments while reflecting on governance, policy implementation and political leadership in Nigeria.
According to him, policies can be reviewed or changed by governments, making the commitment and orientation of political leaders toward the Nigerian people particularly important.
“Policies can be revised, so what matters is who is committed and thinking about how things could work,” Amadi said.
He also assessed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s manifesto, describing it as a strong policy document but arguing that the administration’s governance has not fully reflected the philosophy contained in it.
“Tinubu’s manifesto was very good, but he has governed outside his social market philosophy,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to pay attention not only to what politicians promise during election campaigns but also to their commitment to translating policies into outcomes that improve the welfare and living conditions of citizens.
