Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa has directed security personnel deployed to combat insecurity to take immediate action against bandits and terrorists without waiting for any sort of orders.
Speaking on Wednesday in Sokoto, Musa warned troops against hesitating to engage criminal elements, stressing that any officer who fails to act under the guise of awaiting instructions would be treated as an accomplice.
“Once you are deployed, do not wait for any order from anybody to shoot any bandit or any terrorist.
“Anybody who refuses to shoot or kill any bandit or terrorist in the name of waiting for an order, we will treat you like a bandit,” he said.
The Defence Chief said the directive was aimed at strengthening ongoing military operations against armed bandits and terrorist groups threatening lives and property across the nation.
He then urged security personnel to remain committed to their constitutional responsibility of protecting Nigerians.
