This is the popular Douglas road that use to congested by bus loaders, hawkers and traders but the INTERVENTION of the Government of Imo state under Senator Hope Uzodinma is putting every good measure to sanitize and make the road free to the beauty of the state.
9News Nigeria in Owerri this morning at the time of this report went round to ascertain the situation on ground.
There is no doubt that some of these traders have no place to trade their commodities but the persistent blocking of the road is quite alarming and makes the state dirty.
I sighted some Taskforce agents Warning these traders and drivers to free the road but on the other side, traders and hawkers would return to block the road at the non-presence of Government agents.
This inline is a welcome development set in place by GOVERNOR UZODINMA to speed up work in the proposed EKEONUNWA MARKET project.
At the time of this report the project site is about completion while the contractor handling the cite has promised to deliver as scheduled to enable traders own RESPECTIVE shops.
It is a call in the right direction for the agents of Government to be on duty regularly to chase this road side traders away to free Douglas road.
In a similar Development, work is ongoing at some of the road project sites visited at the time of this report. The busy NEKEDE/IHIAGWA/ OBINZE ROAD is an example of Uzodinma’s good work worthy of appreciation.
The contractors are pushing up to do a solid work as the governor has directed. This morning contractors were seen at Holy Sister/ TRINITY/Mango bus stop towards Police post area.
Meanwhile, vehicular movement is free and safe while the people are happy for the INTERVENTION of the state government to free the road to make the state clean.
I commend GOVERNOR UZODINMA who has shown great interest to develop Imo state and make the people happy.
Reactions of Imolites in this morning interview showed that Imo is hopeful with governor Uzodinma as the GOVERNOR.
