…Seeks Political Structure Support Ahead of APC Senatorial Primary

Owerri, Imo State – A major political move unfolded recently as Dr. Chijioke Kaduru, a frontline aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial ticket for Owerri Zone, held a high-level consultative meeting with former Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairmen and members from across the nine local government areas of the zone.

The engagement, which took place in an expansive hall within Owerri Municipal, witnessed the attendance of a large number of former IMC officials, including former councillors, special advisers, and other grassroots political leaders who served during the first tenure of Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Dr. Kaduru, a renowned medical practitioner, public health expert, and contractor, is leveraging his extensive background in the healthcare sector and public service to bolster his senatorial ambition. As the convener of the Nkwachikwere Foundation, he emphasized his commitment to grassroots development, transparency, and service to the people.

The aspirant was warmly received by the former IMC Chairmen, who ushered him into the venue amidst cheers and solidarity. In a welcome address, a former ALGON Secretary in Imo State and erstwhile IMC Chairman of Ngor Okpala LGA introduced Dr. Kaduru to the attendees, lauding him “an authority in health sector delivery in Africa” and “a grassroots political mobilizer who understands governance and has respect for the governor.”

He described Kaduru as “a man of integrity, a philanthropist, and a bridge between professional excellence and political responsibility.”

In his remarks, Dr. Kaduru expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organisers and participants, noting that although the gathering felt like the flag-off of his campaign, it was primarily a consultative meeting to discuss his vision and seek the support of key political structures.

He spoke briefly about his professional achievements both in Nigeria and abroad, and how they have shaped his passion for public service. He promised to represent Owerri Zone with transparency, accountability, and the fear of God if given the mandate, adding that his youthfulness is a driving force behind his dedication to serve.

Dr. Kaduru further assured the former IMC officials that he will work closely with their existing political structures across the zone to achieve victory at the APC primaries and in the general elections.

During the meeting, each IMC Chairman introduced themselves and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting a credible aspirant. A member of Dr Chijioke Kaduru entourage, Elder Chief Val Okere extolled the aspirant’s credentials and character, calling on the influential Mbaise political bloc—
comprising Aboh, Ahiazu, and Ezinihitte LGAs—to back his candidacy. He emphasized the bloc’s historical electoral strength and the importance of rallying behind a candidate with widespread acceptability.

The Director General of Nkwa Chi Kwere Movement on political Affairs, Hon Okey Azuonwu provided a detailed overview of the aspirant’s political mission, stating that Dr. Kaduru aims to complement the developmental strides of Governor Hope Uzodimma by ensuring effective representation and grassroots impact.

Several other dignitaries including former IMC Chairmen of Ikeduru, Mbaitoli, and Owerri West LGAs, pledged their unwavering support for Dr. Kaduru, describing his entry into the senatorial race as timely and commendable. They praised his courage and sincerity of purpose.

Notable party stakeholders such as Mrs. Racheal Okafor, the Woman Leader from Ahiazu Mbaise, and Hon. Osita Mekwa from Owerri North, also endorsed his aspiration, affirming their readiness to mobilize support at the local level. Dignitaries at the occasion are; Hon. Mayor Obinna Nweke, former IMC Chairman of Ngor Okpala LGA and ALGON Secretary, Hon Barr. Emma Njoku, IMC Chairman Aboh Mbaise LGA.

Others are: Hon. Chief Francis S. Onyeberechi, IMC Chairman Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, Hon. Engr. Lams Ibe, IMC Chairman Owerri North LGA, Hon. Chief Tony Jude Iwuamadi, IMC Chairman Ikeduru LGA, Hon. Chief John Ekeh, Mbaitoli LGA, Hon. Chief Charles Ohiri, Coordinator, Owerri West LGA, Hon. Sir Chief Ambrose I. Nkwodimmah, IMC Chairman, Owerri Municipal and Hon. Chief Larry Obinna Chikwe, former IMC Chairman, and current elected Chairman of Ahiazu LGA

The consultative meeting marked a significant step in Dr. Kaduru’s senatorial journey as he consolidates political alliances across the zone. With growing support from established grassroots structures and key stakeholders within the APC, his ambition to represent Owerri Zone at the Senate is gaining considerable momentum.

Those on the entourage of Dr Chijioke Kaduru are; Hon Chijioke Uzomba, Chief Val Okere, Mr Okechukwu Owoundah, Mr Chidiadi Ogu, Mr Chibuzor Ekendu and the Director General Nkwa Chi Kwere Movement, Hon. Okey Azuonwu.
