Dr. Samuel Udo Atang, the Ukai 1 of Ekid, recently appointed as the first Head of Service, FCTA, was honored at a grand event hosted by the Akwa Ibom Community in Abuja, led by the president, Adede Barr Aniefiok Ibah JP. The ceremony, held at the Akwa Ibom Liaison office and chaired by Distinguished Senator Ita Enang, saw the presence of an array of personalities dignitaries, stakeholders, BOT members, Patronesses, EXCO members, Women, and Youth wing members of the Akwa Ibom Community. The hall which was filled to the brim underscored the love of Akwa Ibom people for their son, leaving most well-wishers standing in anticipation of receiving the man of the moment.
Dr. Atang’s appointment hailed as a historic milestone for Akwa Ibom, was met with overwhelming enthusiasm. Speakers at the event praised his humility and contributions, acknowledging the support of prominent figures such as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the FCT Minister Nyosom Wike, and Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Also acknowledged during this event by speakers were the unprecedented appointments for Akwa sons and daughters by the current administration that records will be left in the anal of history.
As a scion of the illustrious dynasty from IKOT Ndota Town in Eket LGA Dr. Atang attended Government Secondary School, Afaha Ekid, and holds a first-class degree in history from the University of Calabar, as well as master’s and doctoral degrees from other institutions.
It was revealed at the ceremony that apart from the traditional titles that he enjoys, Dr. Atang received several other accolades, including a National award during his NYSC year, earning him a civil service role in Ogun State.
Dr. Atang, formerly the most senior Director in FCTA, rose through the ranks to become the Head of Service, emphasizing the importance of patience in career advancement.
During his speech, Dr. Atang thanked God and other players who made the appointment possible and also appreciated all dignitaries who took time out to be at the event. He stressed the significance of public service and the opportunities it offers for growth.
He expressed concern over the vacancies in the Directorate system of the FCDA where he acknowledged the existence of only Director and urged Akwa Ibom people to prioritize capacity building, assuring his support.
He prayed for divine assistance for the people of Akwa Ibom in overcoming obstacles in their careers for better days that lies ahead.

Akparawa Dr. Tommy Etim(TUC Deputy National President), Ubokutom Njah(Economic and National Planning FCTA), Ekanikpong Ukpana(Director at FCTA), Obongawan Mrs Dora Ebong(Commissioner Fed Character Commission) Engr. Ben Ukpong(Commissioner National Population Commission-Akwa Ibom), Amb. Okon Mkpafi, Mr Francis Ibah (Ati Annang President, Abuja) among others.
Mrs. Josephine Odungide led a formal prayer, invoking God’s protection, blessings, mercy, and wisdom upon Attang throughout his reign.
