At least seven people were killed and several others abducted after armed attackers struck two Christian worship centres in Ariko community, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, during Easter celebrations on Sunday.
Mark Bawa, Councillor representing Awon Ward, confirmed the attack, saying the affected churches are St. Augustine Catholic Church and First ECWA Church.
“The attackers came in large numbers, surrounded the area, and began shooting sporadically at worshippers. Several people were killed and many others were taken into the bush”, he a said.
The incident comes just weeks after another abduction in Kurmin Wali, heightening fears over worsening insecurity in Southern Kaduna -especially during religious gatherings.
Security agencies are yet to release full official statement, though the Kaduna Police Command said more details would be made available as investigations continue.
