The Edo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo, has demolished two buildings allegedly used for cult-related activities and kidnappings in Benin-City.
The buildings, located in Amagba and Ogheghe areas, were said to serve as operational bases for notorious cult groups.
Governor’s statement Okpebholo emphasized his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on cultism and kidnapping, warning landlords that buildings linked to criminal activities would be demolished.
He announced plans to the sites for public use, including building a police station.
New Anti-Cultism Law: The demolition follows recent enforcement of a new anti-cultism law signed by the governor, empowering the state government to take action against properties associated with cult activities.
Okpebholo assured that the government is committed to restoring peace and order in the state.
