Super Eagles Head Coach Eric Chelle will now take charge of the country’s U-23 side following an agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

This comes following a strategic decision reached during a high-level meeting held on Tuesday at the National Sports Commission headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting was attended by NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko, NSC Director-General Bukola Olopade, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau, (NFF) General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, and Super Eagles Head Coach, Eric Chelle.

Former Internationals Samson Siasia and Daniel Amokachi were previously in the running for the U-23 Eagles coaching job.

Nigeria have missed out on qualification for the men’s football event and the last two Olympic Games, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.

The U-23 Eagles won silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and a bronze medal on their last performance at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016.
