Former Speaker of the Abia state House of Assembly, Agwu Agwu, has reportedly dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Agwu was Speaker of the state House of Assembly between 2003 to 2007.
Announcing his defection to newsmen on Sunday, in Umuahia, the state capital, the publicity secretary of APC in Abia, Comrade Benedict Godson, explained that the former speaker had registered in his ward(Ozu Abam) in Arochukwu local government area, which qualified him as a member of APC in Abia state.

He said, “I can tell you authoritatively that, the former speaker of the Abia state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Agwu. U. Agwu has seen the light and has join the moving train, which is APC in Abia state.

“He has registered in his ward at Ozu Abam ward 2 in Arochukwu local government area of the state. I can assure you, he has seen light.“Like I tell everybody, political party is like a church. APC is opened for everybody. I can tell you now is a member of APC.

We welcome him with open hands. We assure him of a level playing ground.”
