Fallen Containers Paralyse Movement On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, As Commuters Get Stranded

Commuters going out of Lagos were stranded on Thursday afternoon as two fallen containers blocked the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The first incident was recorded at 10:50am on the popular Kara Bridge with the second incident recorded at 2pm on the Long Bridge, both on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Reporters observed that the hundreds of vehicles were at a standstill as a result of the incidents.

The gridlock, as of the time of filing this report has reached the popular Otedola Bridge and spilled backwards to around the Alapere area.

FRSC spokesperson, Ogun State Command, Florence Okpe, told reporters that officers of the command, alongside officials of sister agencies, carried out clearance operations, in other to create free flow of traffic.

According to her, no casualty was recorded, adding that first responders are on ground to maintain traffic laws and ease the situation.
