Jos — The Plateau State Police Command has announced the resumption of duty of CP Faniyan Ayodeji, psc, MNIPS, fdc, as the 47th Commissioner of Police in the state.
CP Faniyan, joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1994 as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, brings over three decades of experience in crime fighting, investigation, peacekeeping, strategic leadership and internal security.
He holds a B.Sc.in Zoology from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and a Master’s Degree in Security and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna.
Among his previous appointments, he served as Commander of the Nigerian Contingent, United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan, Team Leader of the IGP Special Investigation Unit, and Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of investigations at Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin City.
The new Commissioner also served on UN peacekeeping missions in Timor-Leste and South Sudan, where he received commendations for professionalism and dedication to duty.
CP Faniyan said his leadership would focus on discipline, integrity, community partnerships, respect for human rights and the protection of lives and property.
He called for the cooperation of the Plateau State Government, traditional and religious leaders, youth groups, communities, civil society organisations, the media and residents in strengthening security across the state.
