The event themed “Expression 2023” was held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the spacious outer arena of the FasTrack Primary and Secondary school under the blessed atmosphere of the rain.
Compered by Fat Jerry and Ben Waltz, the event officially started with an opening prayer said by Pastor Daniel. The national anthem/pledge was taken immediately following the opening prayer in the spirit of patriotism and nationalism.
The school anthem was observed to the applause of the audience. Introduction of guests followed immediately before the orchestra group took the floor to spice the occasion with electrifying performance.
The chairman of the occasion; Mr Samuel gave his welcome address followed by the introduction of the chairman of the school board, Dr. Tom Obaseki. The occasion already fired up, then the hip-hop cultural group appeared to the dance floor with mouth-watering performances followed by WAZOBIA cultural group.
At interlude, the Masters of ceremony took turns to entertain the guests. The high point of the occasion was the introduction and welcome to the podium of Mrs Adesuwa Obaseki who doubles as the director of FasTrack Schools.
She chorused the theme of the occasion and seized the opportunity to trumpet the chief reason why the cultural day was inculcated which is to bridge ethnic nationalities gap and foster unity, peace and progress amongst the cultural groups in Nigeria. Speaking further with our correspondent, she said the school is tried and tested for blazing the trail for 20 years. She is grateful to God for making the school a reference point for academic excellence and highly sought after within and outside Nigeria. She submitted that the school has litany of awards and honours to its badge. She opined that the influx of foreign culture, values, education and orientations necessitated the continuing cultural day celebrations to maintain, retain and respect our cultural values to avoid them going into extinction.
Mrs Obaseki is a seasoned and respected administrator who hails from Edo state but grew up and schooled in the North.
In another development, an accountant, Mrs Charity Uviase, a parent who has children in the secondary section told Vanguard Newspapers that she is impressed with the school’s academic excellence and urge parents to join the winning team via FASTRACK SCHOOLS legendary provisions.
Basking in the euphoria of the stimulated atmosphere, teachers of FasTrack Schools took the dance floor and held the audience spellbound. Still in the spirit of performance, the ethnic cultural dance groups commenced, starting from Niger Delta Cultural Group ranging from primary, secondary to staff then Primary Yoruba Cultural Group to Secondary simultaneously.
After that, the chairman of the school board, Dr. Tom Obaseki gave a special address to the excitement of the people. Primary Hausa cultural group, followed by secondary then Igbo primary and lastly Secondary cultural groups performed and left the audience salivating for more.
Finally, Barrister Edozie rounded up the occasion with his vote of thanks after which Pastor Daniel said the closing prayer.
