Tragedy struck in the early hours of Thursday December 11, when a trailer collided into a bus carrying University of Jos students at about 2:00am along Zaria, near the New Jos International Stadium, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State,.
Sadly, 10 students lost their lives instantly, while only two survived the devastating accident.
The students were returning from a night outing when the accident occurred.
According to eye witness, the trailer rammed into the bus from behind, causing it to swerve off the road and crush into an electric pole.
The incident has plunged the University of Jos community into mourning, while students and families grieving the sudden loss.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the impact had already caused severe casualties.
The authorities are expected to issue an official statement as investigations continue into the cause of the collision and the actions of the trailer driver.
