Jos — A man and his son were reportedly burnt beyond recognition, while three other person sustained injuries when a commercial tricycle, popularly known as Keke NAPEP, caught fire following a road crash at Sabon Barki area of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
9News Nigeria correspondent gathered that the incident occurred at about 4:20 p m. on Saturday as the family was returning from church.
An eyewitness, Kefas Gyang, said the tricycle was reportedly hit by a bus thereby causing the crash.
He said the man’s wife sustained a broken leg, while two of the children and the tricycle driver were taken to hospital for treatment.

Recounting the incident, Gyang said, “I was passing on my way from work when I saw people crying and I went closer to find out what had happened and saw people trying to rescue the victims from a burning tricycle”, Gyang said.
“The fire was not too much. It was beyond our strength, we tried but could not rescue them from the burning tricycle”.
He said the man and his son were burnt beyond recognition in the inferno, adding that he did not witness the actual collision.
“When the other vehicle hit the Keke, I was not there. I only came across the scene afterwards and saw people crying”, Gyang said.
He further alleged that the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene after the crash.
Efforts to reach the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for official comments on the incident were unsuccessful as at the time of filing this report.
