The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has neutralized a notorious bandit, Salisu Mohammed, also known as “Dogo Saleh”, during a high-stakes counter-kidnapping operation.
The operation, led by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, targeted a bandit syndicate responsible for violent crimes along the Kaduna-Lokoja-Enugu highway and within the FCT.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives intercepted Mohammed on March 3, 2025, at Gidan Abe Forest, as he attempted to move into Bwari Area Council, FCT.
Salisu Mohammed, 21, a Fulani native from Baban Saural village in Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, was a hitman for bandit leaders operating in Rijana Forest, Kaduna.
He was notorious for terrorizing communities, orchestrating kidnappings, and collecting hefty ransoms.
Recovered Items
During the operation, he attempted to evade capture but was subdued by security forces. Items recovered from him included: An AK-49 rifle with two magazines, 60 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, ₦3,000,000 in cash, suspected to be ransom proceeds
Police investigations linked Mohammed to several high-profile kidnappings and killings across Kaduna and the FCT, including:
1. Kyauta Village, Chikun LGA (two years ago) – Kidnapping of two individuals, including a security officer who was later killed. Ransom collected: millions of naira.
2. Kike Village (one year ago) – Kidnapping of a security officer’s wife. Ransom collected: millions of naira.
3. Bagada Village (five months ago) – Kidnapping of three individuals. Ransom collected: millions of naira.
4. Village near Kaduna Refinery (one year ago) – Kidnapping of two men. Ransom collected: millions of naira.
5. Karuga Village, Chikun LGA (one year ago) – One person kidnapped. Ransom collected: millions of naira.
6. Bagado Village, Chikun LGA (eleven months ago) – Ransom collected: millions of naira.
7. Dan-Bushiya Village (two years ago) – Ransom collected: millions of naira.
8. Police Quarters in Baban Saural, Chikun LGA – Kidnapping of a woman and her two children. The victims remain in captivity.
9. Attack on security outpost at Kujama Market, Kaduna (January 5, 2025) – Two security personnel killed, firearms stolen.
The FCT Commissioner of Police commended the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for the successful operation and reiterated the command’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements within Abuja and its neighboring states.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
