There has been rumour being peddled by some print and electronic media about an imagined increase in school fees at Federal Polytechnic Nekede.
In a chat with 9News Nigeria, the management of the school through their spokes person revealed that ordinarily, they would’ve ignored such rumours and used their time for more positive things, but this rejoinder is necessitated by the desire to put the records straight in the interest of the public.
In his speech, It is dangerous to allow falsehood spread without correction because innocent members of the society may be deceived into believing a lie especially when the propagation of such lies is sustained.
The truth is that the regular student’s school fees was never increased for any reason, but rather what was increased was the part-time students’ acceptance fees.
The conveyors of the lies about increase in school fees were either being intentionally mischievous or they do not know the difference between school fees and acceptance fees on one hand and between regular students and part-time students on the other hand.
Another truth is that even with the increase in acceptance fees for part-time programmes, Federal Polytechnic Nekede is the most affordable institution of higher learning in Imo State. This information is verifiable.
In the words of Francis Bacon (1561—1626) lawyer, philosopher, and champion of modern science, “It is not the lie that passeth through the mind, but the lie that sinketh in, and settleth in it, that do hurt.”
Unfortunately for these propagandists and detractors, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Engr. Dr. Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa (FNSE) is focused, determined and committed to doing his best in other to leave lasting legacies when his tour of duty comes to an end, therefore their lies does not hurt him.
The school is intact and there is no increment of school fees whatsoever.
