The Federal Government has unveiled strategies to promote the consumption of locally produced agricultural goods and other consumables in Nigeria.
Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), highlighted this during a two-day sensitisation workshop in Abuja.
He noted that the aim is to elevate local governments’ capacity to maximise benefits from the Federal Government’s food security emergency programme.
Akume emphasised efforts to annihilate Nigeria’s reputation as a dumping ground for foreign food, highlighting engagements and support for local governments to bolster good governance and enhance food security.
The initiative seeks to make local governments pivotal in achieving the country’s development agenda, particularly in food security, Akume stated.
