The First Bank of Nigeria has launched a Digital Xperience Centre (DXC) at the University of Benin, describing the facility as an exceptional feat in its shared commitment to innovation.

In a speech at the event on Tuesday, the bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Olusegun Alebiosu, said the bank’s digital innovations would not lead to job losses.

Alebiosu described the FirstBank’s DXC as more than a banking facility and represented a step towards redefining how banking connects with education, technology, and the community.

He said that the DXCs serve as gateways to a smarter, faster, and more personalised financial journey.

The bank chief said that the DXCs were equipped with cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art self-service terminals designed to simplify transactions, while ensuring top-tier security and efficiency.

He said the partnership with UNIBEN led to creation of a hub where students, faculty and community members could access FirstBank’s digital world.

Alebiosu said that the centre provided an elevated banking experience with speed and ease, designed to put the customer in control.

“This digital experience centre set up by First Bank is to take banking to the next step.

“It’s virtually everything you see in a banking hall, with the same service.

“You can do everything from account opening to changing your phone number or email, making complaints, cash withdrawal, and account statements.

“You can also deposit money into your account,” he said

“It will not lead to any loss of jobs. More and more people are accessing banking services, but banking platforms are not expanding as fast.

“This digital experience is meant to complement a branch, reducing crowds in banking halls and frustration,” Alebiosu said.

According to him, the facility operates round-the-clock, including weekends, providing convenience and flexibility for customers.

He said the bank remained committed to Environmental Social and Governance principles, promoting financial inclusion, digital literacy, and sustainable technology.

The Vice-Chancellor of UNIBEN, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, expressed the institution’s delight with the centre, saying, “We are excited and grateful to the bank.

“It will expand the scope of our staff and faculty and improve our operations.

“Ours is a large university and we are pleased that the bank chose to bring it here,” Omoregie said.
