The family of Dame, Dr. (Mrs.) Obiageri Phoebe Oguzie, KSC, has announced the passing of the former Special Adviser on Primary Education in Imo State. Dame Oguzie, a respected education administrator, community leader, and devoted Christian, died on May 19, 2026, at the age of 65.
9News Nigeria reports that Oby Oguzie’s death has been received with deep sadness by family members, friends, former colleagues, associates, political class and many within the education sector who remember her contributions to the development of primary education in Imo State.
Throughout her years in public service, Dame Oguzie was known for her commitment to educational advancement, youth development, and community service. Her dedication earned her admiration across political, religious, and social circles in the state.
According to funeral arrangements released by the family, a Service of Songs will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Aladinma, Owerri.

The funeral and interment ceremonies will take place on Saturday, June 27, beginning with a lying-in-state at her residence in Prefab Housing Estate, Owerri, followed by a Requiem Service at Christ Anglican Church, Emeabiam, Owerri West Local Government Area.
Interment will take place immediately after the church service, while a reception for guests will be held at Comprehensive Secondary School, Emeabiam.
A thanksgiving service is scheduled for Sunday, June 28, at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Aladinma, Owerri.
On the above schedule therefore, the Oguzie’s family has invited friends, associates, former colleagues, and well-wishers to join them in celebrating the life and legacy of a woman remembered for her service, compassion, and commitment to humanity.
Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by Jeff Oguzie, Uloaku Oguzie, Hon. Jennifer Oguzie, Linda Oguzie, and other members of the family as gathered by 9News.
