Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said Thursday in Abuja that if he wins the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential primary in May, he will have over 11 million ready votes to carry the party to victory in next year’s election.
He also asked the party’s leadership to give him first dibs on the 2023 ticket.
Atiku made the remarks to the PDP National Working Committee at the Wadata Plaza national secretariat, where he formally informed the leadership of his decision to run for president in the 2023 elections.
Making a case for his candidacy, the presidential candidate stated that he already had 11 million sure votes to give the PDP victory next year and thus should be given the ticket.
If given the chance, Atiku, who urged the NWC to select only the best candidate, promised to work for the devolution of powers to the states and the unification of the country.
