Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reassured his supporters that victory is inevitable, despite the political tensions in the state.

Speaking on Monday at the commissioning of Government House Staff Quarters on Forces Avenue, Port Harcourt, the governor urged his followers to remain patient, promising that they would receive further instructions at the right time.

The governor also addressed the immediate past local government chairmen and youth groups backing his administration. Fubara emphasized that there was no reason for concern. He called for calm and steadfastness, urging his supporters not to lose hope in the face of political challenges.

The governor strongly rejected any form of violence but affirmed that his administration would make crucial decisions when necessary. He reassured his supporters that he was ready to lead from the front, regardless of the consequences.

“In as much as I don’t subscribe to violence when the time comes for us to take a decision, I will lead the cause,” Fubara declared. “Let me say it again: I am not scared of anything. The worst that will happen is for me to leave office, not that I will stop existing.”

Fubara stressed that his focus remained on doing the right thing for the people of Rivers State, regardless of political pressures.

The governor lamented that each time his government tried to stabilize, new obstacles were thrown in its path, forcing a fresh start. However, he commended leaders who have continued to support his administration without expecting personal benefits.

“Our leaders, I have nothing to give to you, but you have stood by us because you believe it is the right thing for Rivers State,” he said. “Each time we try to stabilize, another spanner is thrown in our way, and we have to start all over again.”

He warned against deceptive political tactics, stating that some individuals were carrying the symbols of certain political figures, but instead of blessings, their actions would bring misfortune to the state.

Before delivering his speech, the governor read from the Bible, quoting Philippians 3:18-19, which speaks of those who prioritize earthly gains over righteousness. This, he said, was a reminder that true leadership is about service, not personal enrichment.

“For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things,” Fubara quoted.

He assured his supporters that despite all challenges, victory was certain. He said the struggle is not just about winning but that it is about standing for truth and fighting gallantly.

The Supreme Court recently nullified the local government elections and ordered the Martin Amaewhule-led Assembly faction to resume sitting.
