~As EXCO approves the commencement of recruitment process of 3000 civil servants
About 2000 free Business Registration Certificates have been presented to the Beneficiaries in Ebonyi State at the State Executive Council Chambers on Friday.
Governor David Nweze Umahi made the presentation at the old Government House, Abakaliki on Friday.
The Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Business Development, Dr. Stephen Odoh said the Federal Government has by the registration given the Beneficiaries a quantum leap in pursuance of their business ideas.
“Let me congratulate those that got their Certificates and to thank Mr. President and Mr. Vice-President for this initiative. Our Country Nigeria is becoming very difficult because Leaders are not just expected to provide food but to also put it in the mouth of the people.
The Governor in company of the Exco members received a report of Justice Omaka Elekwa Commission of inquiry into Effium, Ezza Effium, Aro Effium crises.
Presenting the report, Chairman of the panel, Justice Omaka Elekwa, thanked the State Government for finding them worthy to serve and appealed to them to implement their recommendations for lasting peace in the area.
The Governor later swore in three new Special Assistants to Governor to inject new blood into the Executive Council.
Those sworn-in included Mr. Ozoemena Njoku, SA Solid Minerals, Mrs. Stella Nwagu, SA Adult Education and Chief Chris Uchaji, SA SSG’s Office.
He thanked the Presidency for the initiative of giving credence to the business ideas of citizens through this Business Registration Certificate.
Governor Umahi also restated the commitment of his administration to embark on massive Empowerment of the Youths soon.
“Every Nation that is great has been made great by the people, so everyone has to be involved because Government cannot do everything alone”.
The Governor thanked the Panel of inquiry into the Effium and Ezza Effium crises for a job well done and mandated the Deputy Governor to assemble a team of Lawyers to reduce the report to a miniature proportion.
The Governor announced plans to rehabilitate the Effium regional market before the end of his administration.
He congratulated the new Special Assistants on their swearing-in and urged them to double up their performance.
The Special Assistant to the Governor, Office of the SSG, Chief Chris Uchaji thanked the Governor for finding them worthy of appointment and pledged to justify the confidence.
In a similar development, the Ebonyi State Government has set up a special committee headed by the Deputy Governor, Barr. Kelechi Igwe, to commence the recruitment process of 3,000 Ebonyians into the State’s Civil Service.
“The Committee are to start the advert and start giving people the opportunity to apply”.
Other members of the Committee include:
- The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Zeal Nwangele.
- The Commissioner for Human Capital Development, Mrs. Ann Aligwe.
- The Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service.
- The Chief of Staff, Barr. Samuel Okoronkwo.
- The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Education.
- The Special Assistant to the Governor on Education.
- The Special Assistant to the Governor on Labour and Inter-Party.
- The Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Local Government Matters.
- The Special Assistant to the Governor on Chieftaincy and Local Government Matters.
- Commissioner for Finance.
- The Accountant General of the State.
- The Chairman of Ebonyi State Civil Service Commission who doubles as the Secretary of the Committee.
The recruitment and empowerment process will be based on Local Government equality. EXCO further states that all Ebonyians who are qualified will either be recruited into the State’s Civil Service or be given empowerment.
The Executive Council also deliberated on the recruitment process for the King David’s University of Medical Sciences at Uburu. The Council approved that all the young men and women from Ebonyi State who have First Class in the Sciences, English, and Mathematics are to submit their application to the Commissioner for education for employment in David Nweze Umahi University of Medical Sciences Uburu while others who have First Class from Arts disciplines are to apply to the Committee headed by the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State to be given an opportunity for employment into the Ebonyi State Civil Service.
Also, Council agreed that the processes of promotion in the State’s Public and Civil Service should commenced immediately. The promotions should be based on existing vacancies from resignations, abscondment, and deaths. And then, it was deliberated that promotions for the year 2019, 2020, 2021 that is outstanding should be done immediately in the Civil Service and equally in the Public Service; which means, while the Civil Service is doing their own, the Local Government Service Commission will be doing their own simultaneously.
EXCO also ratified the proposal to establish a male football team in line with Gov. Umahi’s promise during the End-SARS protest to establish both male and female football teams for the State. The team, Salt City Football Club will start its campaign from the Amateur League 2 in the Nigerian League to prepare our local boys who are talented to participate and make (up) the team and one of the processes to recruit them is to further organize competitions.
