Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State has ordered immediate surgery operation on one Master Emeka Nweke, an Umblical Hernia Patient.
9news Nigeria gathered that Nweke is a native of Ndegu Amegu Community, in Ikwo Council Area of the State.
Governor Umahi gave the directive today during a party organised in honour of windows and elders in the State.
The governor’s intervention followed a mild drama in the course of the event where Nweke’s parents knowing Governor Umahi is a man of succour and full of empathy for the downtrodden, created scene by wading through the crowd.
Seeing a divided attention caused by the distressed parents, he called on the security details to bring the poor boy.
The boy’s condition, capable of sending tendrils down one’s chin, attracted the governor’s sympathy necessitating his intervention in the critical condition of Nweke.
Having made an undisclosed financial assistance, he directed Dr Kenneth Igwe, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Daniel Umezurike, the Commissioner for Health and the Commissioner for the Donation Agency to immediately carry-out surgical operation on the boy and ensure he is taken care of.
Speaking to the Press Crew shortly after the executive order, Mrs Angela Nweke said her son developed the condition at the age of 3, taking her to so many places for interventions, but help was not in sight.
One of such places according to her is White Chapel Hospital in Anambra, and lately Igbos Loves Themselves Foundation, a charity organisation she said facilitated their coming to the event where help came from the governor.
Umblical Hernia is a medical condition characterised by the protruding of the intestine through the abdominal muscles at the bellybutton.
