Gov. Uzodimma Reaffirms South-East’s commitment to Tinubu, pushes Charter of Equity

Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, has reaffirmed the commitment of the South-East to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

The governor described the region’s backing as part of a broader vision for sustainable development, national unity, and inclusive governance.

Speaking during a meeting with members of the Imo State Elders Council and the Traditional Rulers Council at the Government House in Owerri on Thursday, Uzodimma said his administration’s leadership model is anchored on people-centred governance that delivers tangible development.

According to the governor, the state’s support for President Tinubu remains unwavering because of the administration’s ongoing reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We are convinced that the continuity of his administration will consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda, deepen ongoing reforms, and further accelerate Nigeria’s socio-economic development,” he said.

Uzodinma, who is the Director General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, also disclosed that the five South-East states have collectively resolved to support President Tinubu’s re-election, stressing that the region is embracing a new era of constructive partnership with the Federal Government.

He said the partnership would be based on development, shared prosperity, and national unity rather than what he described as transactional politics.

The governor further directed the Imo State Elders Council and the Traditional Rulers Council to develop a practical framework for implementing the state’s Charter of Equity as part of efforts to sustain political inclusiveness.

According to him, the Charter of Equity remains essential to ensuring fairness in power rotation, strengthening political stability, and promoting peaceful coexistence in the state.

“We must not return to the politics of exclusion. The principle of equitable power rotation remains fundamental to strengthening political stability, promoting inclusiveness, and guaranteeing sustainable peace, progress, and development in Imo State,” Uzodimma stated.
