Group Condemns Osinbajo For Using Presidential Jet for Campaign, Hails Lawan

The Integrity Monitoring Group, IMG, on Friday condemned Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for using public funds and apparatus for his campaigns.

The vice president, who declared for the presidential race on April 11, has been going about to meet delegates using the 16-seater presidential jet across the country.

Aside from the use of a presidential jet, it has been confirmed that the vice president also travels with a retinue of aides tagged Protocol, Security and Press (PSP) , all sponsored with public funds .

In a statement signed by Chairman of the IMT, Prof William Adeyemi , the group said it is
totally disgraceful for the Vice President to use taxpayers’ funds and collective resources of Nigerians to fund his personal political ambition

He said it is morally wrong for a man who claims to know what public service entails to take advantage of the opportunity given to him by Nigerians to waste scarce resources.

According to Professor Adeyemi , “We are monitoring all the public officers and their activities in these campaign period .
We are surprised from our findings that a man who prides himself a pastor and a man of integrity could not pass the simplest integrity test .

“Among the public office holders running for presidential seat, it is only the Senate President, Dr Ahmad Lawan that is not a complicit on the use of public funds in running campaigns.
Like the Vice President, the Senate President is entitled to a presidential jet with other state apparatus . Our investigation shows that the Private jets being used by Lawan is sponsored by two senators from South East and North Central respectively. This action of the Senate President is highly commendable because it proves his level of financial discipline and integrity.

“We condemn this attitude in its entirety and we call on the President and all disciplinary financial institutions to act quickly on Osinbajo, otherwise we would be setting a wrong precedence for our country.” The Group said .
